 There have been a couple of instances lately where my client, who has limited mobility and uses a wheelchair, has fallen asleep with a cigarette in his hand. In one of these cases, an ash fell on the wheelchair upholstery, starting a small, but worrisome, fire. Thankfully, one of our caregivers, who was in the house, noticed what happened and was able to step in. Do you know of any assistive devices that may reduce the possibility of fire for individuals who are at risk of falling asleep while smoking in a wheelchair?
