You must be designated as a Person with Disabilities (PWD) to receive this type of assistance.</p> <p><a href="https://www.bchousing.org/housing-assistance/rental-assistance-financial-aid-for-home-modifications/home-adaptations-for-independence"><em><strong>BC Housing – Home Adaptations for Independence (HAFI)</strong></em></a></p> <p>This program provides financial assistance for home adaptations to eligible low-income British Columbians with mobility or health issues.</p> <p><a href="https://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/health/health-drug-coverage/pharmacare/fpc01.pdf"><em><strong>Fair PharmaCare</strong></em></a></p> <p>The Fair PharmaCare plan helps British Columbians with the cost of eligible prescription drugs and designated medical supplies. Coverage is based on income and applies to eligible drug costs or medical supplies you buy after you register.</p> <p><a href="http://www.fnha.ca/benefits/medical-supplies-and-equipment"><em><strong>First Nations Health Authority - Medical Supplies and Equipment</strong></em></a></p> <p>Medical supplies and equipment are available to eligible BC First Nations for personal use when all of the following criteria are met:</p> <ul> <li>The item is on the FNHA Health Benefits program Medical Supplies & Equipment List </li> <li>Prior approval, if required, is granted by the FNHA Health Benefits program</li> <li>The item is not available to clients through other federal, provincial or other third party plans</li> <li>The benefit is prescribed by an eligible prescriber</li> <li>The item is provided by an FNHA recognized pharmacy or medical supply and equipment provider</li> </ul> <p><a href="http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/family-social-supports/income-assistance/on-assistance/supplements"><strong><em>General and Health Supplements (on top of Disability Assistance)</em></strong></a></p> <p>If you are on Income Assistance or Disability Assistance, you may be eligible for General and Health Supplements, which can include reduced-cost bus pass, crisis supplement, basic dental coverage and coverage for medical supplies, equipment and devices.</p> <p><a href="http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/taxes/income-taxes/personal/credits/seniors-renovation"><em><strong>Home Renovation Tax Credit for Seniors and Persons with Disabilities</strong></em></a></p> <p>The Home Renovation Tax Credit for Seniors and Persons with Disabilities assists eligible individuals 65 and over and persons with disabilities with the cost of certain permanent home renovations to improve accessibility or be more functional or mobile at home.</p> <p><a href="https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/health/health-drug-coverage/pharmacare-for-bc-residents/what-we-cover/medical-supplies-coverage"><em><strong>Medical Devices and Supply Coverage</strong></em></a></p> <p>In addition to a broad range of drugs, PharmaCare covers approved prosthetic and orthotic devices, ostomy supplies, and insulin pumps and supplies for eligible BC residents with diabetes.</p> <hr /> <p><a name="Provincial and national associations"></a></p> <h3>Provincial and national associations</h3> <p><a href="http://bcits.org/technology-for-independent-living-program-til/"><em><strong>BC Association for Individualized Technology and Supports for People with Disabilities - Technology for Independent Living (TIL) Program</strong></em></a></p> <p>This program assists people with high-level physical disabilities by providing them with Environmental Control Systems and Door Opener Systems that help them to control devices in their home and on the go. To find out more about the program and the application process, please visit the TIL program website (direct link).</p> <p><a href="http://www.bcrehab.com/"><em><strong>BC Rehab Foundation – Individual Grants</strong></em></a></p> <p>BC Rehab’s individual grants support individuals with physical disabilities. The BC Rehab Foundation funds a range of new and used equipment for a wide range of disabilities.</p> <p><a href="https://www.bccerebralpalsy.com/programs/equipment-assistive-devices-funding-program/"><em><strong>Cerebral Palsy Association of BC</strong></em></a></p> <p>The Cerebral Palsy Association of BC offers some financial assistance for the purchase of assistive devices.
