Swollen feet can be very uncomfortable, so it is important to be able to find footwear that is both supportive and easy to put on. Thankfully there are a number of extra-wide adapted slippers available on the market. Below are some examples of products you may want to explore:
- Extra Wide Swollen Feet Slippers (at Silvert’s) are super-soft plush slippers. This product offers a very wide fit that is adjustable with an easy-to-use Velcro attachment on the top of the foot. This product costs about $30 (CDN), plus a shipping fee, and comes in three colours: black, mauve and baby pink.
- Deep and Wide Diabetic Bootie Slipper Women/Men (at Silvert's) have an extra wide fit for swollen feet and swollen ankles. A perfect choice for those who are diabetic and or have feet with edema. Adjustable closing strap and slip-resistant soles. This product costs about $20 to $25 (CDN), plus a shipping fee.
- Women's Extra Wide Width Adapted Slippers (at Silvert's) accommodate swollen feet and ankles and have skid-resistant non-slip soles as well as memory foam insoles. These adapted slippers come in a range of colours and have a Velcro attachment, making them easy to put on. This product costs about $40 to $50 (CDN), plus a shipping fee.
If falls are a concern for your client, slippers with a sturdy sole (such as the third option) are highly recommended.
