There are a number of tools available on the market that seek to help people with memory loss complete daily tasks or actions. Below are direct links to some examples of these products:
- CanPlan app by CanAssist (at CanAssist) helps people with cognitive challenges successfully complete tasks. To use the app, the user will go through a certain task with a support worker or family member and together, they will take photos of each step involved in that particular task. Then, they will save it under a particular “task category” within the program. The app also includes a scheduler to ensure that each task is completed on time. The CanPlan app is free and can only be used with Apple devices (direct link to the App Store).
- Qcard (at Qcard Inc) is an app that allows users with cognitive challenges to set quick reminders, guided tasks and appointments. Caregivers can also be connected to view the app, enabling monitoring from a distance. There is a free 30-day trial, after which the app costs about $3 (CDN) per month or about $20 (CDN) for a lifetime subscription. This app can be downloaded on Apple and Android devices (direct links to App Store and Google Play).
