It can be very difficult to press down on small buttons if you have limited mobility or dexterity in your hands. You may, therefore, be interested in knowing about typing aids, which are devices with a tipped pointer that easily attach to your hand. Below are direct links to a few examples of such products:
Typing Aid by Parsons ADL (at emso.ca) is an easily-attachable hand clip with a soft plastic key depressor that is useful for keyboards and telephones. This product costs about $30 (CDN), plus a shipping fee.- Slip-On Typing Aid by Sammons Preston (at Amazon Canada) is a plastic typing aid with a rubber tipped pointer that is fastened to the base of the fingers with a Velcro strap. This product costs about $55 (CDN), plus a shipping fee.
Type Aid Button Pushing Tool by SP Ableware-Maddak (at arthritissupplies.com) helps people with limited functional hand skills to accurately press the keys. Unlike the other products listed, this device wraps around the palm and does not require you to extend your finger. The Type Aid is available from a U.S. retailer and costs about $25 to $30 (USD) plus an additional shipping fee.
If necessary, you can also grasp a pencil and use the eraser to hit keys or small buttons.
